WATER REFORM GRASSROOTS CAMPAIGN DAY

The Sewage Campaign Network, sponsored by MPs Anna Dixon, Clive Lewis and Roz Savage brought grassroots campaigners to Westminster. 117 MPs joined our Drop In Event. Many are now supporting the overwhelming case for Public Ownership of Water, which the government has refused to consider.

Campaigners delivered our message to government to stop the Water Bill because it locks us into a failed privatised system, lets polluters off the hook, and weakens environmental protections.

Instead we called for the government to:

  1. Examine Ownership
A transparent, independent review of all ownership models, learning from what works internationally, to design a modern public system that is cleaner, fairer and more cost-effective.

  2. Enforce the Law
Hold polluters to account now using the full force of existing legislation, and reject deregulation disguised as “streamlining”.

  3. Give the Public a Say
Put the public at the heart of decisions about the future of our water system.
